Important Information

SEAT are delighted with news that Environment Minister Edwin Poots has called for a public inquiry into the north-south interconnector. In a statement he said,

īThis proposal raises a number of issues which need further exploration. This includes the impact on public health and the consideration of alternative technologies such as underground cabling'.

SEAT would like to thank all those who have supported this campaign over the last three years in terms of attending meetings, letter writing and fundraising. However there is still a long road ahead of us and it is essential that all those individuals and families who wish to see high strength power lines undergrounded in the future continue to support this campaign. SEAT are confident that this forthcoming public inquiry will provide oppoprtunities for all concerns and anxieties to be fully and fairyly examined before an independent commissioner. Objections to the planning application - Planning Service have informed SEAT "The Department is required to take account of all written comments in relation to the planning merits of a proposal received prior to the determination of the planning application". This appears to indicate that we can object to the planning application right up until a decision is made, although obviously the sooner the objections are received, the better for our case.
